Line edits (line by line tweak of sentence structure, readability, context)
Lite copy edits
Initial proofread (grammar, punctuation, capitalization, syntax, missing/misused words) – note, this should not replace a full pre-publication proofread
Continuity errors highlighted
Comprehensive beta review including character review, story flow and tone, impressions and thoughts about story overall, likes and dislikes
There will be in-manuscript mark-ups and notes as well as comprehensive beta notes
Lite Beta Read
A lite beta read includes:
Beta feedback including character review, story flow and tone, impressions and thoughts about story overall, likes and dislikes
Some lite line and content edit suggestions
Continuity errors will be highlighted
Note: this is a more intense beta-read than a standard beta read as there are some in-manuscript notes in a lite beta read. No proofreading will be completed.
Copy Edits
A post-publisher/final edits review:
Double checking accuracy of text (where needed)
Checking grammar, style and flow
Some text rework (where needed)
Some paragraph rework (where needed)
Proofread
Pre-publication proofread includes:
Final check for any spelling, grammar, capitalization, syntax errors
Final check for any missing/misused words
Audiobook Proof
Pre-publication proof includes:
Proof reading against manuscript – accuracy, missed/incorrect words used, missing sentences/paragraphs
Character/voice characterization consistency check
Feedback document including character review, story flow and tone, impressions and thoughts
